Two talented young Italian documentary filmmakers Ludovico de Maistre and Massimillano Manzo, working with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), take us into the world of Syrian refugees.
Being with Refugees compares the life of Syrian refugees in Lebanon to those in camps in Jordan. The contrast is stark and heart rending.
It is hard to fathom that the civil war in Syria has now been going on for 10 years. Many of the children born in the camps have not known a world outside their camp’s boundaries.
Movies Move Us and Villa Charities of Toronto partnered with Lifeline Syria to recently screen Being with Refugees; bring awareness to their plight; and raise money to help with efforts to extend a lifeline to them. We thank Ruggero Romano and Giulio Recchioni for organising this event.
You can view the trailer and purchase your copy of Being with (here). The filmmakers have generously provided a 50% discount. Frank Palmay, Lifeline Syria Board Chair, participated in the Q & A with the filmmaker, the people from Villa Charities and Movies Move Us that can be viewed here.
